What is DYBA Force?

DYBA Force is a competitive baseball program for higher skilled players interested in increasing their frequency of play and advancing their game into a level of tournament play.  Teams are comprised of players from the Lake Norman area and are parent run and coached.  Teams require enhanced commitment and will practice and play in competitive tournaments together.

How can I play?

Currently DYBA has active force teams at 8U & 12U.  DYBA is always looking for volunteer coaches & players interested in forming new Force teams.  If you are interested in leading a Force team or playing on a Force team; please read on to understand the basic commitment required.

Tryouts for newly forming and existing Force teams are generally held annually in the spring and the spots are awarded based on skill level and coach discretion.

What is the commitment level?

DYBA has the flexibility to offer freedom within a framework, which allows our coaches and teams to design a schedule that works best for the group.  At tryouts, each coach will explain the expected commitment and related fees for the year.  We believe it is important that families understand these factors before officially joining a team.

  • Spring Expectations:

    • 1-2 practices per week

    • 1-3 tournaments

    • Potential for local games

  • Summer Expectations:

    • 2-4 practices per week

    • 2-5 tournaments

    • Optional: participation in the Cal Ripken district/state/area/national tournament.

    • Potential for local games

  • Fall Expectations:

    • 1-2 practices per week

    • 1-3 tournaments

    • Potential for local games

What is the cost to play?

The financial cost for Force varies based on the number of tournaments played.  It may range from $200 - $500, and will cover uniforms (hat and jersey), and tournament entry fees.  There may be incremental costs for tournaments, specialize coaches, clinics and travel. Additionally player parent volunteer hours are critical to the programs success.  Typical engagement includes assistant coaching, keeping book, running game changer, managing food and refreshments at tournaments etc.  These resources and time commitments are critical to the success of each Force team.

What is the goal of DYBA Force?

  • Competitive baseball experience for our most talented players.

  • Opportunity to grow with local players from our schools and neighborhoods

  • Emphasis on player development through high frequency / high quality touches in practice

  • Emphasis on character development: having fun, working through challenges, winning and losing, playing on a team, finding your role, sportsmanship.
