Play Ball!   Registration is Open for 12 and Under!

DYBA Families:

We are happy to report that DYBA and Town of Davidson have finalized our “back to play” protocols for Spring 2021!  We are opening registration now for the 10 year old and under age groups!  Please help us plan ahead and sign up ASAP!

Our volunteers are already started planning for an enhanced community baseball experience this spring including:

  • “Doubling Down” on Community.
DYBA has always been known for its sense of community and friendly competition. Especially in this difficult time where we are constantly barraged with things that divide us, DYBA is recommitting to the entire Davidson community TEAM – with all the adults helping all of our kids develop into better ballplayers and into great TEAMMATES! Expect to see a high emphasis on all the adults helping all the kids as we all try to be a little bit better each day! We want everyone to feel like that are part of not just their own team but the entire Davidson Baseball Program!
  • Coaches selected early!
To practically make this happen, we already have commitments from three tball (5-6) coaches, four rookies (7-8) coaches, and three minors (9-10)coaches. We have capacity for six tball teams, for rookies teams, and four minors teams so we are more than halfway there for head coaches. If you have a tball player or a 9/10 year old player please consider volunteering to head coach now! Getting our coaches identified and together as our own TEAM earlier than ever before is a key part to our plan!
  • Field improvements and upgrades at historic McEver Field.
You may have noticed the Town public works department has already put in some extra time to have the infields in much better condition! Volunteers have pitched in with some small field project! DYBA board members and Town staff are working together to get a schedule together (and some sponsorship supplemental funding in some cases) for additional improvements such as repainting the outfield wall, and getting bullpens back in solid shape. McEver Field is the best baseball venue in Lake Norman and we are looking forward to facilities being in top physical condition.

More news to follow for the 11 and 12 year old age groups!  We are exploring some possible partnerships with Davidson K8 and may offer an early Middle School Academy team with different format than years past.

Davidson Baseball for High School Program:
Tryouts

Tryouts are currently scheduled for Saturday, November 7 and 14 at 9:00 AM at McEver Field. Players interested in attending tryouts should email Ashley Lattin at [email protected] to register for tryouts.
We are proud to offer a an opportunity for high school players interested in improving their skills and maximizing their ability to compete at the varsity and junior varsity levels. We believe our program will also support players with aspirations to play competitive baseball after high school. Based out of Davidson and centrally located in the Lake Norman area, our program will provide your player with an opportunity to develop their baseball skills while having a great time playing the game we all love.

Program Details – Offseason and Summer 2021
With player development as the primary goal for our program, we have designed a program that will maximize player skill for their high school season.
We will host offseason workouts at McEver Field in Davidson on Saturday mornings in December – February. Each workout will be designed to focus on specific fundamental skills. Individual workout plans will be provided for further player development on their own.
At the completion of the high school baseball season, our team is scheduled to play in the Metro League in summer 2021. The Metro League is a Charlotte-based league of high school level teams that play a 15 game schedule throughout the summer and concludes with a playoff tournament. In addition, the team will play in tournaments on an ad hoc basis.

Program Leader and Head Coach
Our high school program is led by Coach Trevor Haas. Trevor pitched at the Division 1 level for Valparaiso University and currently serves as the pitching coach and assistant head coach for the South Lake Christian varsity baseball team. Trevor’s coaching philosophy is focused on player development through fundamentals, hard work and mental strength.
Trevor’s player’s would consider him a player’s coach – approachable, honest and ready to give individual feedback for player improvement.
